Mitzy RENOOY fell very young under the spell of colour. « -It is fascinating to discover what you can do with oil-colours ! » she says. Resolutely expressionistic, her painting borders on abstraction by bright keys playing with shadow and light. Her series of street scenes in Cuba is today the subject of the exhibition at the Chikabee Gallery. But she has also been a portraitist for almost twenty years.
After working for more than 15 years as a photographer and cameraman for Dutch television, Mitzy Renooy is finishing an advanced training course started in 2013 at the Academy of Groningen. She is currently nominated for the ‘Dutch Portrait Prize’ at the Royal Palace of Soestdijk.
