Laurent HOURS paints enigmatical landscapes, fortified cities as mirages sprouted out of the desert, endless oceans, immense skies with voluptuous clouds. In these poetic worlds appear often small white silhouettes of ladies holding sun-shades, children skipping with a rope, playing with hoops or walking their dog. A dream world, poetical and timeless, vibrating from colors and light.
Born in 1946, Laurent Hours studied at the Beaux-Arts of Paris from 1965 to 1970. He devoted himself later totally to the art of painting and received many prizes : the Prix des Arts plastiques de la Ville de Bordeaux, the prix de la Jeune Peinture « Septentrion », the Grand Prix international d’Art Contemporain de Monte Carlo, the Prix de l’ICOM, etc… His works are notably present in the Musée National d’Art Moderne of Paris, the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, and the Beaux-Arts museums of Bordeaux and Saintes. Beside this, he realized public orders for wallpaintings and mosaics in Paris, Evry, Bordeaux, Saintes and Tokyo.
